This is a two-three part lesson. Several students are in need of more time to complete their artwork as well as 1:15-1:30 classes. We have extended the lesson for an additional week with another activity for early finishers.
Please do not take your artwork home. In 3 weeks Mrs. Jaramillo and I will be visiting each classroom to grade your artwork.
There is a second option for students called Zentangles. This is for students who do not want to create an inspired Mehndi (look at slides). The process will stay the same (watch the video). However, instead of outlining the hand, students will cover their ENTIRE paper with lines and patterns. Students will also be allowed to cut their paper in half to create 2 Zentangles.
Modification: Minimize the steps by dividing the hand into bigger sections. Example: A student would only add lines and patterns to the palm of the hand. The fingers would stay blank.
Toothpicks: This tool can be hard to hold. Therefor students can use a dull pencil (not sharpened) to scratch on the black scratchboard paper. Students can also use a thicker stick to etch out their designs.
Watch, pause, rewind and fast forward as needed and create your artwork. Remember to use the materials you have at home and differentiate as needed.
Save your work in your art folder. Have fun!
